Around the World in Veggie Ways

For people who prefer salads to meat, this is not simply a preference, it’s a way of life. They take their decision very seriously and stick by it. And there are places around the globe which share their diet plans.
The Capital of England is one of the best places in the world when it comes to vegetarian cuisine, a reputation supported by the fact that it was voted the most vegetarian friendly city in the world by PETA.

Another city where it’s trendy to be meat free is San Francisco, California, vegetarianism has been at the heart of this city and it has several customs like Meatless Mondays which show its support to this cause.

Vancouver, British Columbia was ranked as the 6th most vegetarian friendly city in North America, it must be for 1 in 10 Canadians now identify themselves as vegetarians. Vancouver has a ton of restaurants catering to those who wish to remain meat free.

Of course, on any meat free list, India would have to take a place. It is, after all, a country with the most widespread vegetarian population in the world. Indians follow this course of diet due to spiritual and religious reasons, and for the vegetarian there is hardly a better place to eat than Mumbai – it has extensive dishes which are completely meat free.

New York City is as diverse a place as they come – it has an array of different people and this goes double for the food preferences there. It caters to everything, including some fine vegetarian restaurants. Not so little China also has a vegetarian preference going back hundreds of years.

Expose of Airline Secrets

Everyone hide things so don’t be surprise when you come to know that your most trusted airlines have been keeping some secrets from you as well.  Many of us travelers have experienced that time when our flight gets delayed for hours and we get a $8 voucher as a compensation for the airport breakfast. The $8 voucher simply can’t compensate the time and the energy wasted at the airport, many of us don’t know our rights which are granted to us in such situations. Here we have exposed few of the airline secrets which weren’t in our knowledge before.

Say No To Vouchers

If you are being handed with a $8 voucher after 4 hours of waiting for airport breakfast then don’t just grab it and say thanks, the US Department of Airport security orders the airlines to pay their passengers with $1,300 check if your flight is two hours late.

Cancel Tickets Within 24 Hours With No Charge

Most airlines allow you to keep your tickets for seven days before a flight and get a complete refund if you cancel your ticket, however American airlines and Southwest is an exception.

Delayed Luggage

Many airlines don’t tell you this that if your luggage is delayed or lost they are supposed to pay you around $3,000 whereas they just pay you $35 to $50 per day. Now that’s really bad!

If The Itinerary Changes

If for some reason an airline changes your flight and swaps it with another carrier, then they are liable to accommodate all of your other expenses like extra fees of the other carrier and transportation if the airport is different.

None Refundable Tickets Can Be Refunded

If you are flying on a non refundable ticket and for some reason the flight is delayed, rescheduled or you have to fly extra hours because the route has changed then you are liable to get a full refund even on a non-refundable ticket.

How To Survive In A Economy Flight Effortlessly

Sitting on a plane for 20 long hours in not my idea of fun and excitement, but long haul flights is one of the essential evils of traveling. I had to travel to India last week from US so I had to endure a 16 hour flight here are a few things which I practiced to make my flight bearable.
I’m no pop-singer so I fly in economy flights or coach flights, the section where you travel with other two hundred strangers breathing each other’s recycled air. If you are fond of traveling in first class or business class then this list is not for you. So here are a few tips which you should follow before you board your plane.

Choose Your Seat Sensibly

Do you like to sit near the window or the aisle? Well if you are not the kind of person who would want to be disturbed again and again by the other passengers to give way whenever they want to go out, then you should book foe a window seat. Window seats are better for three reasons: first you don’t get disturbed again and again, second you get to see the view and third you can rest your head against the window.

Dress In Layers

For me all the planes are cold, so the best way to deal with the cold air conditioners of the airlines is by dressing in layers. My favorite airline dressing for a long-haul flight is a pair of stretchy pants, long cotton shirt with a full sleeved cardigan. If for some reason you don’t like to layer yourself up then the best way to get dressed is by taking a cashmere wrap with you on the flight so in case you feel cold you can yourself with it.

Pack Smartly

On-board you are allowed to carry a laptop bag, one standard size hand carry and one person bag. Use this on board bag facility wisely. In my laptop bag I place all my electronic gadgets their chargers and important document. In the small purse that I carry I pack my traveling accessories like toiletries, gums, face wipes and some snacks.

Imagine Your Neighboring Passengers

On my last flight to Kuala Lampur I was seated near a couple who were flying with one infant and two toddlers. Those kids went on and on crying on the flight the poor parents tried everything to stop them and keep them calmed but nothing worked, one kid would start crying and automatically the other two started crying too. So my biggest mistake on that flight was not to bring a pair of ear plugs as I thought the airline will provide them in their amenity kit, but to my horror they didn’t. So when you are flying on a long haul flight is prepared with things like earplugs and eye mask as you might need them.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

Keep yourself hydrated on the planes as they are pretty dried and you wouldn’t want to be dehydrated when you land at your destination. Avoid alcohol and other sugary beverages at all cost, in fact ask the flight attendant to serve you with water.

Stretch And Move

Sitting for a longer period of time can cause some serious moving problems when you land. Your body needs the blood to flow freely so every no then stretch your body or move around the plane. Do some walk in the aisle, calf raises, and airplaneyoga. Do something except for staying still.
