What you need to know about frequent flyer miles

Frequent flyer miles are thought to be complex in their purchase and use and indeed how to purchase or sell airline miles is indeed an art. There are a few things you need to understand about miles before you proceed.
    http://www.themileageclub.com/blog/purchase-sell-airline-miles/
  1.  Blackout dates do not exist anymore. You can use the miles to travel at any point of the year, including peak seasons. So this should make the buy and sell process a lot more easier.
  2. There is no expiry date whatsoever. Even if there is it can easily be removed. Airlines have removed the concept of expiring miles. This gives you the flexibility to use them as you desire.
  3. You don’t have to be a frequent flyer to earn these miles. A lot of airlines have partnered with a lot of land partners that allow you to earn miles through your credit card. Now you can shop, dine, stay and earn miles through your credit card. The credit points can be claimed as miles.
  4. You don’t have to save your miles for international travel only. Whats the point if you are going to do that a few times a year. If you travel more domestically then it is better to save up on the flights rather than wait to go out of country.
  5. Whoever says it is clever to save miles for first class travel, is not exactly right. What is better? Traveling once through business class or twice through economy? The latter of course. The distance and time is the same, so might as well make the most of it.

Best Air Travel Tips and Travel Guidelines

Air travel is routine for some and an adventure for others. There are always some things that look complicated when it comes to air travel, like the usage of miles. The following air travel tips and guidelines will help you understand the use of miles better.
First off, airline miles are a loyalty program started by most airlines across the world which helps their passengers to save up on their flights. You earn a set of points on the distance you have flown and are known as airline miles or tokens. Airline miles refer to the number of miles you have flown and not to the number of miles you can fly. Once you collect a certain number of miles, you can claim a free flight. Most airlines have finished blackout dates, which mean you can use miles to travel at any point of the year. There is also no expiry date on the miles.
The most important air travel tips and guideline is that you don’t have to fly to earn miles, you can even do so by alternative ways like shopping, dining etc… This will accumulate your credit card points and you can exchange them for airline miles. You can redeem these miles for both domestics and international flights. The same theory applies for first class and coach. You can redeem these miles for both and choose the option that helps you save more. If you travel more domestic, then don’t wait to use them on international and if you can travel more through coach than through first class, opt for it.

Debunking frequent flyer miles!

Frequent flyer Miles can be a bit intimidating, but they are not rocket science and actually quite beneficial once you figure them out, although there are some myths surrounding their use. There are many, but these top 5 myths about frequent flyer miles got our attention.

themileageclub.com/blog/5-myths-about-frequent-flyer-miles/
  • The first being about the blackout dates. They don’t exist for most airlines and you can travel at any time of the year, including the peak seasons.
  • Second being about the expiry dates, they more or less do not exist anymore and the ones that do can be reset very easily.
  • Third being about how to get miles, you don’t have to get them to fly. You can even accumulate miles on your credit card by shopping. So if you have enough points on your credit card you can trade them for airline miles.
  • Fourth being about redeeming miles for international flights onl,. That makes sense if you actually fly abroad a lot, but if you don’t, then what are you waiting for? Redeem your miles for domestic flights and save as much as you can.
  • Fifth one being, that always redeems your miles for First Class tickets. Yes, it may be more profitable, but if you can travel and save more through coach then why wait to redeem them on first class? Aren’t more coach flights better than a few first class flights? The travel time is the same and so is the distance, so it is better to redeem them on a coach than wait for more expensive tickets.
These 5 myths about frequent flyer miles were probably just slowing you down, but not anymore.
